Description: Up for sale is a super nice older Stanley 605 Bedrock plane. It the type 5 produced in 1911 only. First year of the flattops sides. The plane is in great shape . The tote and knob are in great shape with no cracks. They have their original patina. The horn of the tote has been shaved back as you will see in a lot of these old planes. Not sure why this was done other than the lateral adj. lever getting loose and rubbing on it, but you will see this on tons of planes. No pitting anywhere. The iron has the T logo and it is sharp. Everything is correct for this type. Here is a excerpt from the Virginia Toolwork's Bedrock type study. Beds now marked “BED ROCK” in addition to “600” model numbers2 patent dates behind frog, “PAT’D. APR. 2. 95″ & APR. 19. 10”Flat-top sides introduced for first timeRaised knob receiver (flat version), Tall knobs introduced, “T” tm on ironsFrogs are now attached to beds with adjustment pins and set screwsMessage me with any questions.
