Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi - Force War is a five-issue comic book miniseries, the third arc in the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi comic series that is set in the Pre-Republic era and focuses on the Je'daii Order, the Jedi Order's predecessors. Set one year after the events of the previous story arc, The Prisoner of Bogan. Now... a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi - Force Storm! Here begins the tale of the dawn of the Jedi, the Star Wars of 25,000 years ago-before lightsabers, before hyperspace travel, before the Jedi spread throughout the galaxy, when connections to the Force were new. On the planet Tython, a group of beings-scientists, philosophers, and warriors-strive to maintain peace and to balance the mystifying power known as the Force. But a stranger is coming, one who will disrupt the balance with his arrival and his own connection to the Force. Everything in their system is about to change . . . The doors to the galaxy have been opened! Story/Spoilers: In issue #0, It began with the mysterious pyramid ships-the Tho Yor-scattered to the eight corners of the galaxy, and ended with the establishment of an Order that would change the universe forever. Here's your first look at the Star Wars of 25,000 years ago - before there were lightsabers, when the ties to the Force were new, and before the Jedi spread out into the galaxy. Next in issue #1, On the planet Tython, in the center of the galaxy, an order of warrior monks strives to maintain peace and to balance the mysterious power known as the Force. But a stranger is coming-one who will destroy both peace and balance, and open the galaxy to exploration and conquest. This is where it all begins! John Ostrander and Jan Duursema of Star Wars: Legacy fame reveal the mythic age of the Jedi's beginnings! In the year 36,453 BBY, the Talid monks of the Order of Dai Bendu on the planet Ando Prime feel the call of the Tho Yor, a massive pyramidal starship that has been buried in the Andobi Mountains for centuries. The Dai Bendu monks board the Tho Yor as seven other Tho Yor across the galaxy call out to the natives of the planets upon which they rest; the Tho Yor then travel the galaxy and visit other planets, gathering Wookiees, Humans, Twi'leks, Selkath, Cathar, and a number of other Force-sensitive species, before all eight travel to the planet Tython in the Deep Core. There, the eight Tho Yor gather around the ninth and largest Tho Yor, which floats above a pinnacle of stone, and the starships scatter themselves across Tython as the planet is engulfed in a ferocious Force Storm. The pilgrims come to realize that they have been brought to Tython to study the Force, and they form the Je'daii Order—an order of warriors and scholars whose name is a Dai Bendu word meaning "mystic center." Tython is a planet that reacts violently to imbalance in the Force, so the Je'daii develop a philosophy of balance between the light and dark sides of the Force, which they name after the twin moons of Tython: bright Ashla and dark Bogan. However, the Je'daii eventually come to realize that Tython is unsafe for those who are not sensitive to the Force, and so all those who cannot touch the Force migrate out across the Tython system, settling the ten other planets in the star system. However, resentment of the Je'daii grows over the millennia, and in 25,805 BBY the Twi'lek Despot Queen Hadiya of the planet Shikaakwa begins the Despot War in an attempt to conquer the Tython system. Hadiya is defeated at Tython, but the scars of the Despot War remain fresh for some even twelve years later in 25,793 BBY. Across the galaxy, the Infinite Empire of the Rakata species conquers the planet Tatooine, which was discovered by the Force Hound Xesh in the service of his master, Predor Tul'kar. Tul'kar's superior, Predor Skal'nas, requests Xesh's services in locating a Force-strong planet in the Deep Core that his own Force Hound, Trill, is unable to locate. Next in issue #2, At the heart of a galaxy far, far away lies the Tython system-home of the Je'daii for thousands of years. Now a stranger has come and the balance of the Force has been disrupted. Three young students feel the disturbance in the Force and are called to this new, shadowy presence. It is the calm before the storm that will engulf their planet and change the galaxy forever! In 25,793 BBY, the space station Furies Gate on the edges of the Tython system briefly detects an incoming starship, and though the ship vanishes, Je'daii Ranger Hawk Ryo contacts the Je'daii Council and warns them of a dark presence he sensed entering the star system. On the planet Tython, the Je'daii Journeyer Shae Koda loses control of her rancor-dragon Butch at the Je'daii Temple Anil Kesh, forcing her master Quan-Jang to save the two from falling into the dangerous Chasm when Koda loses consciousness after witnessing a Force vision of a dark warrior. Koda sets off to follow the call of her vision, and around the same time, the Devaronian assassin Jaris Kan infiltrates Ryo Fortress on the planet Shikaakwa. Kan intrudes on a conversation between Baron Volnos Ryo and his Je'daii daughter Tasha Ryo, and as Tasha defends her father from the assassin, she also experiences a vision of the dark warrior. Tasha departs for Tython, refusing to side with her crime lord father after Volnos kills a disarmed Kan. At the temple of Qigong Kesh, Sek'nos Rath is experimenting with Force lightning and showing off for several girls when he witnesses the same vision, causing him to nearly lose control of his lightning. A fourth individual also shares their vision: the former Je'daii Daegen Lok, who is imprisoned on the moon of Bogan. Koda, Rath, and Ryo follow the call of the Force to the dangerous Rift on Tython, where they witness an enormous vessel crash onto the planet's surface. As they investigate the wreckage, the three sense a great darkness, and they encounter the source: the dark warrior from their vision, the Force Hound Xesh. Next in issue #3, The balance of the Force on Tython has been thrown into turmoil. A ship has fallen from the sky, bringing with it a strange, dark, and hostile individual. Three young Jédaii who felt 'called' to the site of the crash now fight for their lives with their swords and the Force. But live or die, the storm that will engulf the homeworld of the Je'daii has already begun! Next in issue #4, For millennia, the Je'daii Masters have protected the planet Tython and maintained a balance within the Force. But now a stranger from another world has come, destroying the balance and engulfing the world in a Force storm that threatens every inhabitant! The ancient Je'daii Order stands on the brink of a powerful discovery. But will this knowledge bring wisdom . . . or peril? Three young Je'daii students may hold the fate of the world in their hands! Finally in issue #5, On ancient Tython, the Force is out of balance, causing a massive Force storm which could destroy the entire planet! As three mighty Je'daii Masters strive to subdue the storm, three of their students struggle to forge an uneasy alliance with the dark stranger whose presence created the storm in the first place. As the first arc of the epic tale comes to a close, powers beyond even the Je'daii's understanding will be revealed, and a threat to the galaxy at large will be unveiled! The Force Hound Xesh abandoned the Je'daii Journeyers who saved him from the saarl in the Rift, but he remains behind to watch them fight. However, Shae Koda's demonstration of the light side of the Force and her determination to protect her friends intrigues the Force Hound, who returns to join Koda in her fight as Je'daii Rangers Rori Fenn and Hawk Ryo arrive to aid them. Xesh succeeds in killing the saarl, but the Force Storm continues to grow in power with the Force Hound at its center. With the aid of the other Je'daii Temple Masters, Quan-Jang shifts the Force back into balance and ends the storm, though his apparent death in doing so leads an enraged Koda to activate Xesh's Forcesaber - a feat only the Force Hound had been capable of - and to try and kill Xesh in revenge before she comes to her senses. Xesh, Quan-Jang, and the others are healed of their injuries at Mahara Kesh, the Temple of Healing, but despite the Journeyers' protests, the Je'daii Council exiles Xesh to Bogan so that he can find balance.
