Steven Correia Sculpture Prism Eyes on Design DESIGNERS CHOICE AWARD

Description: THIS LISTING IS FOR AN ORIGINAL CRYSTAL / GLASS SCULPTURE IN THE FORM OF AN OPTIC PRISM. THIS WAS AN AWARD GIVEN IN 2000 BY THE "EYES ON CLASSIC DESIGN" TO THE "DESIGNERS CHOICE AWARD" WINNER. This was commissioned by artist Steven Correia, and carries his information on the bottom of the granite piece. It is signed by him on one lower edge of the crystal (see photos). Measures 6-3/4" tall when placed on it's original granite base. The black granite base measures 4” square. The crystal is not attached to the base (it sits on a black velvet square) and could be displayed separately. No chips or scratches.. gorgeous piece for the collector!! If you love the piece, but not for the award aspect, it can be displayed with a plain black edge facing out as opposed to the award info on the granite. Please see all photos and feel free to reach out with any questions. Comes from a collector's estate. THE HISTORY IS; The Eyes on Design Show was established in the late 1986 as both a celebration of automotive design and a fund raiser for the Detroit Institute of Opthalmology, a nonprofit organization in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, devoted to matters pertaining to the eye and vision. The first shows were "Eyes On Th Classics" and were held in the Grosse Pointe Academy parking lots. Initially it focused on the "Big Three" (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler), the show was expanded to include automakers from around the world. The name was also changed to Eyes On Design". For its third show, the venue moved to the grounds of the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House. To ease access and accommodate the increasing public attendance, the design chiefs at Daimler Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors, suggested that the event be hosted by one of their companies each year. Bringing together some 250 concept cars in one place is the secret of the shows success, that has been driven by the enthusiastic assistance of automotive design executives. In addition to vehicles from various automakers, the event also features concept cars by invitation from some of the world's most renowned vintage automobile collectors and restorers. The vehicles shown at the annual event are by invitation. Judging in numerous classes is "based not on the quality of the restoration or authenticity", rather it is on the basis of their "design character, emotional appeal, artistic excellence of the vehicle". With the world's greatest car manufactures, Maserati, Ferrari, etc., etc. showing at this event, these awards are quite prestigious!
