Description: After establishing the first art glass studio in Benicia, California in 1971, Steven Smyers has established his reputation in the creation of fine contemporary art glass. Early in his career, he mastered the art of creating unusual yet striking art glass paperweights. Starting in 1980, he focused primarily on the fabrication of fine handblown stemware which he continues to produce currently. This wonderful example of his work most likely originated during the first 10 years his studio was in operation. It has an underlined pulled feather pattern with a blue spiral starting at the top, circling the weight and culminating at the base. A subtle iridescent cast covers the outside surface. The paperweight measures almost 2 1/2” tall and 2 3/4” diameter. In original condition with absolutely no damage or repairs. His signature as well as “Northern Star” (the name of his company) and other markings clearly visible on the bottom. This artistic creation makes for an amazing display on the coffee table. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
