This toile is from France and it dates from the first quarter of the 19th century 1800-1825 ~ It's a rare and wonderful treat. This toile is called " Joseph" and was designed by Francoise Pieters . This toile has a fascinating story ( please see below) This toile is part of the vein of stories of opera and biblical subjects were in full fashion in the early 19th century. The Favre et Petitpierre factory also produced a printing on this subject in 1810 a toile de Nantes. This is a lovely piece, hand stitched and hand quilted with a light batting between the layers!~ MEASUREMENTS: This wonderful panel measures approximately 42 inches by 20 inches maximum CONDITION: This lovely fabric is in as found , not freshly laundered condition and it can be hand washed and hung to dry. It is faded with time, and there are dirty marks on the backing!! ~ It can be hand washed and hung to dry ~ signs of time and use often inherent in these wonderful pieces!!
