This is a polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a well-preserved, millipede from the Cretaceous Period with a superb group of bivalve seashells. This millipede would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops! These shells are the result of bivalve animals drilling into the amber while it was under seawater.The piece itself weighs 1.6 grams with approximate dimensions of 2.1 cm length by 2 cm width and 0.4 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch. Please see my feedback. I have been selling amber fossils for over 15 years on eBay and do not sell fake amber only genuine material from now extinct plant sources not glass or plastic embedded with present day inclusions. Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma). The saltwater test claims that real amber will float in saltwater while fake amber will sink.However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
