SVEN HEDIN - PICTURE POSTCARD TWICE SIGNED 03/25/1951 - HFSID 280288 SVEN HEDIN B/w picture post card of explorer Sven Hedin from the shoulders up in pince-nez glasses and a black suit and tie, with an autograph letter in untranslated German on verso. Written in Stockholm in 1951, a year before his death in 1952. Picture post card signed "Sven Hedin/1951" on image and "Sven Hedin" on verso. 4x5¾ postcard. With an autograph letter in untranslated German on verso. Stockholm, Sweden, March 25, 1951. Swedish explorer Hedin (1865-1952) was the last person to receive Swedish knighthood (1902). Between the years 1893 and 1935, he made four expeditions to Central Asia. Hedin cartographed significant areas in Pamir, Taklamakan, Tibet and Transhimalaya (also called Hedin Mountains). Lightly toned, silvered, creased and bowed. Lightly worn along edges and corner. Postcard is delaminating in bottom right corner. Adhesive residue on verso (does not touch handwriting or signature).
