Description: This is the original Tascam 122 studio mastering deck. It is one of the most desirable cassette decks in studios for broadcasting and playback. It has a separate record and play head to ensure greater record quality and longer unit lifespan. The unit also has Dolby chips in it for optimal stereo quality for its era. Tascam would go on to become TEAC. All of the dials and buttons work and the VU Meters work as well. There is a slight hum when monitoring the recording through the headphone jack, but that does not come out on the recording. As you can see from the pictures, there are some heavy scratches on the top of the case due to it once having belonged to a high school AV department. This unit has had a long career. Its mechanical components were restored in the late 2010s by a professional audio repair center.
