Description: Item Description: For sale today is one bare PCB for testing an oven stabilized 10MHz reference/timebase for frequency counters and function/signal generators that use a 10MHz reference. The board can also be installed in a counter or signal/function generator. If the counter or signal/function generator you have uses a crystal ring oscillator or even an oscillator module (not oven stabilized), this board will be much more accurate and stable. This board is not recommended for the HP/AGILENT 53131A, 53132A, or 53181A counters as they have an auto cal routine that uses a DAC. The finished board in the pictures is not included. This board has purple solder mask and lead free finish vs blue solder mask on the original, but otherwise it is the same. Condition: This is a bare PCB for DIY assembly. DIY Build Information: The board can be assembled using all PTH parts, but the 8 pin DIP reference and the 8 pin DIP op-amp are duplicated on the solder side of the board with SO8 pads if you want to use the SMT versions. This board can use most common packaged OCXOs, there are four different patterns. If the OCXO used does not have standoffs (little bumps on the bottom) to hold it away from the PCB, it should be spaced off of the board during soldering. The board can use either a 5V or 10V reference IC or the reference from the OCXO if it has one. The reference used is jumper selectable. The op-amp can be configured for a gain of one or two (or any gain needed). The board is set up for 12V or optionally 5V. There is a regulator on board that can be 5V (LM7805) or 12V (LM7812) or it can be jumpered out if the correct voltage is available for the OCXO. There are no instructions for assembly, the schematic, BOM, and layout are in the auction pictures. This batch of boards has green solder mask vs the blue on the original boards. If powering the board from 5V, the reference IC should be either 3V to 4.096V to account for voltage drop in the reference. R7 should be changed to 10 ohms. The board is 2.0" by 5.0" with four isolated mounting holes for 4-40 screws. Standoffs should be 3/16 hex. The mounting holes can also use KEYSTONE 2262-2 swaged standoffs (can also be soldered in place). Standoffs and screws are not included. One picture shows the mounting hole spacing, but the board can also be used as a template. The OCXO output is connected through a resistor and capacitor to a BNC connector. The resistor and/or capacitor can be jumpered out with a wire if desired. If you are going to calibrate this yourself, you will need an accurate and stable 10MHz reference clock such as a Rubidium reference oscillator or GPS stabilized reference. The counter will only be as good as the reference used for calibration.
