Oblong 4to., maroon cloth with gilt title and pasted-on photo at front board 126 pp. A gorgeous item printed on heavy cardstock paper, reproducing b/w and sepia photographs of car races, airplanes, family members, children playing, Parisians in their Sunday best, all laid out to replicate a personal scrapbook, and accompanied by translations of Lartigue's comments pertaining to each. Lartigue worked with Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Jacques Feyder, Abel Gance, Robert Bresson, Francois Truffaut and Federico Fellini. This, his first book, was conceived by Richard Avedon. The captions and text were written by Jean Fondin from interviews with the photographer. Very good plus. Couple of scuff marks to the pasted on photo on the front cover but this is believed to be a part of the original photograph. Minimal soiling and very light wear to boards edges and to the head and to the heel of the spine. An occasional crease to the photograph. Internally beautiful with incredible photos and an interesting presentation. Simply a wonderful book full of family photographs. Uncommon.
