Description: This is a lovely 1954 first edition hardback book by Frank Jennings, the famous Tramp Parson. It tells the true story of his time living amongst the down and outs in the slum quarter of New York and his evangelical work whilst he was there. He was an English pastor who had spent a lot of time with English down and outs, and had established Christian hostels for their benefit. He originally went to America on a pastoral exchange which unfortunately fell through and so he then decided to continue his work with Americas down and outs. It's an interesting account of specific people he encountered and how he helped them. It is in very good condition for its age, all the pages are clean. The dustcover is quite worn in places as shown in the photo's and to be expected for its age but it has done its job and protected the book. Downsizing sadly forces sale
