Description: Man, the 70's were a wild time! I'm so glad I was born in a time line that allowed me to cross paths with such incredible music. Sometimes I feel like I was born too late and missed my assigned era because it would have been so cool to be a teen or 20 or 30 something when this stuff was new. Again, this is from my own personal collection and is full of great memories of coming home "early" from the bar to drink beers at home and listen to this record specifically. Growing up in a small town and being bar legal in the 90's the local joints had jukeboxes that we all sunk quarters into to play our favorite tunes. Mostly ppl played the stuff that was popular back then, the crap that youd hear on the radio to ad nauseam and honestly it was painful. One of the local dives had a Doors greatest hits in way the back and my favorite thing was playing The End. It was a transcending moment when my selection would finally play and blow the minds of ppl so used to digesting soulless radio hits that lasted only a few minutes. Nothing better than those 11 and a half minutes of great music and the look on ppls faces, hearing them exclaim "who played this?" as I laughed inwardly and polished off my beer. When I played the end I was usually ready to leave, my obligations to be social and engage with friends fulfilled but my night was usually far from over. Going home to my own little rockin' apartment with my record player and choice beers was where it was at. Usually my peers would stay out but there were occasions when some fringe weirdo(s) would exit with me drawn by the promise of vintage music and a different vibe. "You're the one who played the Doors huh?" "Yup" "My Dad used to have Doors records when I was a kid" "Oh nice, mine too. I actually own the album "The End" is from. It's called "Weird Scenes in the Gold Mine" Great stuff, lots of great songs...wanna go check it out?" This album kicked off plenty of nights and brought me closer to ppl who were like-minded old souls and for that it holds a special place in my heart. I'll be sad to see it go but you know the drill.
