THE FLY Original 1958 Movie Poster, 41.5" x 79", C8 Very Fine on Linen

Description: This is the Original (1sh) movie poster THE FLY. It was used by 20th Century Fox to promote this movie when it was released in 1958. It is not a reprint nor a reproduction. The movie stars David Hedison, Patricia Owens, Vincent Price, Herbert Marshall, Kathleen Freeman, Betty Lou Gerson, Charles Herbert (as Philippe, the boy), Eugene Borden, and Torben Meyer. It was directed and produced by Kurt Neumann. The screenplay was written by James Clavell from the short story of the same name by George Langelaan. This partially restored movie poster is Rolled and measures 41.5" x 79", normally called a Three Sheet. This poster is also linen backed. The primary area of restoration was at the previous Fold lines, which are generally faint and not readily noticeable any more. This original movie poster is graded C8, Very Fine. Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc. It is difficult to find any pre-1985 original movie posters graded C10 (Mint). Of the flaws that exist, none of them are obtrusive and none of them take away from the striking appearance of this poster. The photos really do not give justice to the detailed images and the solid colors of the poster. The colors have not faded. Since it is linen backed, this makes the poster definitely and immediately ready for framing and display. UPDATE: I was notified by an astute buyer that in my photos there appears a bright white vertical line right above the "L" in "WOULD" near the fly's claw. I inspected the poster again. This vertical line is where there is some minor loss of the semi-thick surface paper. This loss is highlighted and seen as a bright white vertical line when hit by the flash of my camera. In regular light and even under strong light, this vertical line - where there is some paper loss - is the same color as the surrounding paper on the poster. In other words it is barely visible under normal viewing circumstances and it is not a bright white vertical line. I also found a similar loss of surface paper right under center that is more of a semi-circle, about 1/2 ". In both cases the paper loss does not extend back to the linen backing.
