THE LEGENDARY ORIOLES The Door Is Still Open is a 1997 New Moon Blues release (NMC 9716). The Orioles were formed in 1948 by the late/great Sonny Til and hit the top of the charts with Crying In The Chapel—which was later featured in the film AMERICAN GRAFFITI. The band was inducted into the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME in 1995. Diz Russell was a member of The Regals who Sonny Oil picked to replace departed band members. He joined The Orioles in 1955 and lead the group (now called The Legendary Orioles) who sang classic Doo-Wop with a touch of Gospel until his death in 2016.
