The drum sticks are connected to the drum with string so they can't be lost. It plays 6 songs by pressing the first 3 buttons and a 4th button plays a short drum sound. It has an on/off switch on the bottom. Hitting the drum doesn't make any songs start so you can play along with the song that's playing. Hitting the drum makes a very satisfying thump like a proper drum. Kids love it! The battery compartment is very clean, however the cover remains slightly raised on one edge when closed.
