Description: c1780. Front board detached. Every page checked so complete apart from plates. Ex Libris plate inside. A few marks, very few small tears, a couple of small chips to margins inc. frontispiece & creases. Worm hole affecting upto p.73 with just a very few words affected but be read/worked out, mostly margin. Ex Libris plate inside. Water staining upto p.19 along hinge area. Plate No. 4, p.490 is partially detached with rough edges from protruding edges. No. 6 'Mercury sent by Jupiter to Calipso' (p.406) is missing but no sign of removal. No. 20 'An Accurate Index Map to the Works of Homer' (p. 638) has been removed. No. 31 'View of Troy and Adjacent country' (p.348) has been removed. So 37 out of 40 present although when I went though book I counted 38 although this might have been a mistake. One plate was not correct place so maybe this has happened with No. 6? Leather binding is worn with front board detached. Overall a nice sound copy of this scarcely available book apart from the one dislodged plate. Approx 265 x 220 x 60mm.
