In 1929 the Soviet Union enlisted his aid as agricultural adviser and he assisted in the development of 10 million acres of Russian farm land. In the same capacities, the countries of Morocco, Algeria & Tunisia through Great Britain and France, the latter awarding him the Croix de Guerre. When World War II started, he was 60 years of age but entered the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel and rose to Brigadier General.
