Description Cover by Fred Meagher. Stories and art by Charles Biro, August Froehlich, Stan Schendel, and Fred Meagher. When movie cowboy Tom Mix's radio show hit it big, sponsor Ralston Purina offered Tom Mix Comics by mail for two boxtops of any Ralston cereal. The art, often uncredited, is exceptionally nice in this series. Investigating an outlaw gathering at a long-abandoned ghost town, Tom discovers that the nearby federal gold reserve has been robbed. Miserly Uncle Amos tries to save money on a car by building his own out of spare parts, in a story with art by comics legend Charles Biro. In a combination of WWII and Western action, Tom takes on Grizzly Grebb, who's rustling beef intended for the US Army at the urging of Nazi fifth columnists. Plus activities pages and magic tricks. And a page discussing the process of making Tom Mix Comics, featuring photos of the entire creative staff, including the staging of a Tom Mix fight scene! An unusual bit of comics history. The Golden Hoard of Ghost Town; The Fumble Family with Amos Q. Snood; My Favorite Magic Tricks; Sure as Shootin'; Great Straight Shooters: Abraham Lincoln; Jane's Page; Jane of Dream Castle; Stubby and His Straight Shooter Pals; Bake Oven of the Desert Indians; The Taking of Grizzly Grebb. 32 pages, Full Color.
