Description: Vintage Menu. tiki, scarce san francisco - oakland item, copyright 1951. mid century style 8 pages inside of menu plus outer cardboard .Trader Vic's is a restaurant and tiki bar chain, Victor Jules Bergeron, Jr. founded the chain., a competitor for many years of, Donn Beach of the "Don the Beachcomber" restaurants. Vic founded Hinky Dink's as it evolved, the menu and decor developed a tropical flair, and Hinky Dink's soon became Trader Vic's. Because Bergeron lacked the capital to expand, he partnered with Hilton Hotels. Conrad Hilton opened his first Trader Vic's in The Beverly Hilton in 1955. Two years later, Hilton opened another Trader Vic's in The Palmer House in Chicago, and made a mint off the idea. Sheraton Hotels quickly opened competing chains of tiki restaurants in their hotels, known as Ports O' Call and Kon-Tiki.
