Description: Please note I am NOT an expert on this caboose/train light/ Lantern at all, so all this information is just my opinion, you'll have to be the judge of this fantastic collectors item for yourself. This item was found on the east coast of the United states, the Maryland area to be exact. I don't know what year this was made, but I think it's pretty darn old. This is exactly the way I found it, I did not try to clean it up or change it in any way whatsoever, all I did is take pictures. This fantastic item is pretty much all metal with glass, and it's marked BR , and I think that might be British Railways ,but I can't be for sure. This item is approximately 18 inches high at the highest point, approximately 11 inches thick, at the thickest point and approximately 10 inches wide, at the widest point. This is a very big, heavy, and very well made Lantern that's for sure. The oil part of the lantern is marked on the stem SHERWOODS LTD 8HAM or BHAM ? (see picture 21). Please also note I did not clean this up at all, you can see all the dust, and dirt still on there, this item will clean up really really nicely , if that's what you choose to do, or you can just leave it alone, and add it to a really cool collection. This is a used item, so there are scratches, rust, missing paint, dings, dirt, cracks, and could be missing some parts, but that's all to be expected for as old as this item is. The glass part is NOT cracked, which is fantastic, and everything looks and opens up, and works well at least to me. To me this item looks like it has the original black paint on there , which I think is super cool, but I can't be for sure, but either way this is a fantastic collector's item and a fantastic find , and I hope it goes to a great collector who will enjoy this item as I did.
