Description: Tried to fit it all in the title but there's a lot going on . As you can see there are two copper spinel twins protruding from the smithsonite crystals. The smithsonite has gained its color from tenorite, a cuprian mineral, CuO. You can see flashes of native copper, did my best to photograph, throughout the steel-grey/black smithsonite crystals. You may also see some reds and greens from the malachite and cuprite inclusions. In short, you've not only got a beautiful specimen, you've got a very rare one too. Copper and smithsonite aren't rare but to find them in their crystal forms and then to find them together, it doesn't happen often. It's a must have for collectors of smithsonite and copper crystals from a location famous for many minerals but not its native copper.
