Every now and then a one-of-a-kind rarity becomes available... or a show-stopping ultra-gem steps out of the crowd... shells that take your breath away and are a joy to own...an elite shell--- ULTRA! Conus Nobilis victor #12 43.1mm, Broderip 1842, RARE GOLDEN BEAUTY from Indonesia. Found live by a diver at night in 5-15 feet of water in the sand, Lembata Island, Indonesia, 2019. I remember reading a story In the Hawaiian Shell News of a lady who in the seventies made a special trip all the way to Lembata just so she could go shell collecting for Victor cones. If I remember right, the trip included, besides the two days of travel just to get to Indonesia, a couple of flights on puddle jumpers held together with duct tape, (true story, I been on one like that myself in the Philippines, and let me tell you, it is amazing how fast you can become very religious when you see the pilot adding more duct tape to the wing just before take off!) and then a long trip in a small boat to the group of uninhabited islands where the shell is found. And despite great effort, she found nothing for quite some time, (the shell is rare, after all) and just before she ran out of time and had to head back home empty handed, she finally found one. Whew! . That's shell collecting! . (Also, I noticed them mentioning in the Hawaiian Shell News that there were two distinct color variants of this cone, a light golden and a dark-cocoa, and that the light variant was found exclusively at one end of the island, and that the dark variant was found only at the other end, huh.). Anyhow, when you look at a shell like this, you can understand why she went to all that trouble, they are one of the most exquisite jewels of the conus family! As for this shell, it is a gorgeous, golden, ultra-GEM beauty, a light version of the shell with darker bands, a perfect apex, a smooth, glossy body, a magnificent pattern, and a delicate lip, so it is indeed the kind of shell that provokes people go all out to find one. And as the photos show, this is a terrific beauty that will look awesome sitting on your shelf! The ultra-perfect shell for a first-class collection. As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on eBay show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest! As for feedback, as your know, sellers live and die by the feedback you leaved, (please leave fives!) so if you have a problem, just let me know! After all, I'm retired, and all messages go directly to my phone, so unless I'm out shell collecting I will get back to you pronto-like!Shell collecting! Now there's a phrase that brings smiles to your eyes, doesn't it!Anyhow, if you have read this far, you have my apologies and best wishes from those of us at IslandShells323.
