Description: Untitled Document Foxglove / Digitalis Seeds " Your Seed Choice from the Menu " Foxglove or Digitalis are stunning flowers with tubular blossoms that have speckled throats. The plant creates a dramatic effect with its tall spires of flowers. These are one of our favorite flowers. Foxglove can be a labor of love, in our zone (Z5) most foxglove grows as a biennial, which means they form a rosette and leaves in their first year, and off to the races and bloom in their second year, unfortunately then die after year 2. But Foxglove is good at reseeding itself, we suggest planting for 2 years in a row and they should keep producing new plants and flowers. Personally, I seed some every year and add them to the garden, I always enjoy the Gorgeous Flower Spikes and so do the Humming Birds. Some of our seed varieties are perennials but they sometimes are short lived in our cold zone. You have your choice of Foxglove Seed varieties from the Menu. Your seed selection will show the Flower, Zones, and Price. There is a deep shipping discount for multiples of any combination, put all items in your cart then check out for combined shipping. Foxglove is a passion of ours, Here are some tips that can help with your Success. Seeds Naturally are sewn in the fall and over winter they are exposed to cold and sprout in the warm wet spring. Unfortunately we have not had a lot success direct sowing. We sow seeds indoors about 8-10 weeks before the last frost and we use Seed Stratification, AKA couple weeks or so in fridge or warm water over night, to trick the seeds into sprouting. We use a rich fine seeding soil mix and since the seeds are so tiny, the Seeds should only be lightly pressed into the soil and then keep moist at 60-65 F degree to germinate. We have used bright windows, grow lights and outside (if warm enough) to germinate. Plants should be hardened off before planting in the ground after the last frost. Foxglove likes full sun to part shade with moist organic soil. I have better luck with partial shade since the shade helps prevent drying out quick. Foxglove grows pretty vigorously only in some rare cases will it bloom the first year, It's all about the Long Game and Second Year and the Amazing Blooms. After Blooming you can harvest your seeds if your bees are doing there business, the plants will naturally reseed the ground, and we mulch first year growers for the winter. Foxglove is toxic so don't eat it, with that said Foxglove is Dear and Rabbit Resistant so it Prevails when you have critters. We Give you these Tips for your success, I would also research your zone and Foxglove for extra tips for your success. Your Seed choice shows your Selection, Zone and Price.
