Description: Ming dynasty porcelain jar with faceted shape and intense blue (sacrificial)glaze. This rare unmarked piece has the typical surface of porcelain pieces made during the reign of the emperor Xuande (1426-1435).Numerous burst bubbles have created an "orange peel" effect. Interestingly, the glazed surface of porcelain pieces made during the previous Yuan (Mongol)dynasty were smooth. They were the original makers of solid blue glaze. This jar has a small area of filler on one of the pointed projections on the rim (see photographs)). It is stable and not very noticeable, otherwise good condition. Note the typical wear to the unglazed foot ring. Height 7"
