Description: An extremely rare Victorian mourning ring, in solid 9 carat gold and bearing the cross, heart and anchor of Faith, Hope & Charity. The motifs, carved and etched in gold, are at right angles which elevates the ring to stylized art as well as being a meaningful, symbolic piece. It bears an incredible unusual, crisp, clear English hallmark for Chester 1891 with maker's mark WGM for Walter George Matthews, and is inlaid to its channel with a ribbon of woven hair - which travels underneath the gold symbols, thus becoming a central part of the design and of utmost importance. The heart could even be inscribed with initials. It's a size 7 not resizable, measures 7 mm at the widest point and weighs 2.2 grams. It's in very good condition apart from a missing section of hair to the back. All my items are guaranteed 100% as described or your money back, so buy with confidence!
