Used Limited Edition Autographed (?) LP: TOM RUSH Late Night Radio NM/VG+

Description: TOM RUSH: Late Night Radio. Used limited edition autographed (?) LP in Near Mint/Very Good+ condition. Night Light Recordings Catalog # HS 48011; Limited Edition record # A-855; 1984 Condition: Vinyl is excellent, just a few minor pops/ticks (“Virgin Teldec Vinyl”). LP jacket has some wrinkles and “dings,” so my honest grading requires me to call it only VG+. This was a concert recording for benefit of public radio station WGBH in Boston. The raised seal on front of jacket stating it is a Limited Edition appears to have been autographed by Tom Rush, with some brownish magic marker. Since I bought this album 40 years ago, I can’t swear that the record was marketed as personally autographed, but the signature does not appear to be a machine-generated facsimile. See close-up pic of the seal; unfortunately, Rush’s presumed autograph does not photograph well. Behind the Music: This concert was recorded at Symphony Hall in Boston as a fundraising effort for WGBH-FM, the flagship NPR station up there. It was also an attempt to recreate the atmosphere at the “folkie” Club 47 back in the heyday of the Folk scene. Guest Artists: Steve Goodman, Buskin & Batteau, Mimi Farina and Beverly Rush. There is significant instrumental accompaniment; this is not a pure “singer-songwriter and his acoustic guitar” performance. Nothing wrong with that! There must have been quite a few “Trekkers” (“Star Trek” fans) in the house, since “Beam Me Up Scotty” draws the most robust audience response. And why not? The lyrics are quite droll and reflect life in USA in the Reagan years (which, if I may say so, were not exactly a laugh a minute for Americans with less than stellar incomes).
