Up for sale is a used, excellent condition 5"x14" Slinglerland vintage student aluminum shell snare drum, Model No. 140. This drum is in used, good condition with minor scuffs and scratches in the drum finish and hardware. The drum has Slingerland stick saver rims on the top and bottom. The rims are 8 lug chrome over brass (COB). The top rim has one little nick in it. The rims are very clean. The shell is made of anodized aluminum with batter and snare edges turned over for extra strength. The drum has a smooth finish with micro-indentation. There are eight chrome plated lug castings mounted to the outside of the shell. The snare throw off is the original Rapid strainer with the original 16" strand Slingerland wires. The drum has a round, dark, felt, tone control on the interior of the shell that can be adjusted with a round chrome knurled knob to the left of the oval badge. The oval brass and black badge date this drum to possibly the late 1960's. The serial number is #197550. The badge says, Slingerland QUALITY DRUMS, NILES, ILLINOIS U.S.A. SER. NO. 197550. The drum has a new Remo Ambassador coated top batter head, Made in the USA. The bottom head is a new Remo Ambassador Snare Side head, Made in the USA. This drum is a collector's dream come true! This is a very clean drum with all original parts except for the new drum heads. Slingerland made some of the very best sounding drums and have had some of the best plating in house at the time this drum was made.
