V Rare USA Bob Chance 1960's Rawlings CM25 1st base mitt glove Indians Senators

Description: Here is a Very Rare vintage 1960's made in USA Bob Chance Model CM25 baseball 1st baseman's mitt or glove for a Left Hand thrower and thus fits on the right hand. The mitt was made in the USA and is adult sized measuring 11" long through the pocket. The mitt was only made from 1966-1967 and sold for $20 - $22 in that time period, when top line mitts sold for $45-$50, so it was a mid-line mitt. Stamped on the front of the mitt is "Deep Well" Pocket, Pro Design, Bob Chance Autograph, Hinged Pad, Rawlings, CM 25 and Made in U.S.A. On the back is stamped Magic Action Back, "The Finest in the Field!", Patent Applied For, 100% Nylon Sewn and Pat. No. 2,625,686. There is a decent red original Rawlings patch sewn on the back. There is some mostly faded owner writing on the outside thumb area and some initials (more noticeable) on the back of the pinky finger area (see pics). There is also a name written on the back of the web at the top. The inside and outside stamping is all readable. Mitt has a decent but somewhat faded red Rawlings cloth patch on the back. The leather is still soft on this mitt. Interior leather is soft and smooth and has some noticeable chafing on it. The noticeable chafing in the bottom right area as the pictures will show. The rest of the interior leather is smooth. The lacing appears original and intact but does show some wear along the edges of the mitt. The piping is a soft vinyl covered cloth showing wear, mainly around the backstrap and that area. The thumb & pinky loops are functional and useable. Bob Chance was one of the earlier African-American baseball players for the Cleveland Indians. He played from 1963-1967 and again in 1969 (6 seasons). He started with the Cleveland Indians from 1963-1964, then with the Washington Senators from 1965-1967 and with the California Angels in 1969. His best season was 1964 with the Indians (probably getting him his short-term glove contract) batting .279 with 14 homers and 75 RBI's.
