Description: Very early and rare Josef Albers exhibition catalog, for a 1950 show of his Paintings and Prints at the University of Louisville's Allen R. Hite Art Institute. Single sheet folded once to make 4 pages, with a b&w illustration on the front. Includes a checklist of art from the show and an essay by Creighton Gilbert on the inside. Very good condition, slight creasing to the upper and lower outer corners. OCLC locates 7 copies worldwide, including the Met, MoMA and the National Gallery of Art. To my knowledge, this is the fifth earliest Josef Albers one man show in America to have printed a catalog.
