It was a joy, mixed with sadness, to see a large number of his fine works being shown, and dispersed, in a single afternoon....As good fortune would have it, I was able to acquire several drawings and watercolors by this fine creator. Here is one that has been in my personal collection for a decade, now offered here on ebay. Guillot spent much time in Provence, and this beautiful watercolor painting, in a style influenced by Matisse, appears to me to be bathed in Mediterranean morning light. On table top with a patterned mat we see a glass vase holding abundant floral vegetation. Next to the vase and flowers, Guillot's artist's palette and brushes, with vibrant colors waiting to be applied. This is life-affirming, life-enhancing work by an important artist. This is a big picture. Dimensions are about 19.5 by 25 inches. Condition is very good to excellent.
