Description: THIS ITEM MEASURES 3 IN X 4 IN. The 179th Aviation Company (Medium Helicopter) was organized as a medium cargo helicopter unit. The unit was activated 15 December 1965 at Fort Benning, Georgia and during calendar year 1966 deployed to the combat theater of Vietnam. Upon arrival in Vietnam the company was initially stationed at Dong Ba Thin and then moved to its present location at Camp Holloway, Pleiku, RVN. At this time the unit was assigned to the 52d Combat Aviation Battalion.
