The 195th deployed to Vietnam arriving on 17 October 1967 at Bearcat in III Corps. While at Bearcat the company officially became the 195th Assault Helicopter Company. The 195th had three platoons: 1st Flight Platoon “Skychiefs", 2nd Flight Platoon “Ghost Riders” and the 3rd Platoon Guns “Thunder Chickens". The 195th AHC was assigned to the 1st Aviation Brigade’s 222nd Combat Aviation Battalion. The 195th were declared operational-ready and assumed their duties in III Corps Tactical Zone. It was the only Assault Helicopter Company assigned to MACV. The 195th primary mission was to support the special operations of MACV-SOG CCS (Military Assistance Command Vietnam Studies & Observations Group, Command and Control South) whose missions were over the border operations into the Parrot's Beak and Fish Hook areas of Cambodia. 195th AHC were the only helicopter company operating in Vietnam with camouflage helicopters. The Thunder Chickens did extensive damage to the enemy during the 1968 Tet Offensive in the III Corps Tactical Zone. The 195th Assault Helicopter Company stood down on 14 December 1970.
