Strum (also known as Maud Squire) was an American artist and illustrator, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She is known for her work in book illustration and fine arts, particularly during the early 1900s. Strum worked primarily in graphic art and was associated with the Art Nouveau movement, a style known for its intricate linear designs and flowing forms inspired by nature. She collaborated with Ethel Reed, another well-known illustrator of the period, and created posters, book covers, and illustrations for various publications. Strum's works often reflect the decorative style popular at the time, with an emphasis on organic, curvilinear patterns. Although not as widely remembered as some of her contemporaries, Maud Strum's contributions to illustration and her role in early 20th-century American art have earned her a place among notable artists of the Art Nouveau era. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
