Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND MY POLICIES BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID. Check out my other items!Be sure to add me to your favorites list! This listing is for a vintage Goldbeck & Co. (Chicago, ILL.) alto saxophone mouthpiece. The Goldbeck company manufactured the first popular metal saxophone mouthpieces in the 1920's. These are made of solid nickel silver (also known as 'German silver'), so they are very heavy. Unlike modern metal mouthpieces, this one does not have a bite plate integrated into the beak. You'll definitely want to use a cushion to protect your teeth! Like most mouthpieces of this era, this has a very large round chamber, deeply scooped inner side walls, and a straight baffle. It is stamped 3 on the side. The tip opening measures in at .055", which is quite small by modern standards, but normal for the period when this was made. This mouthpiece is in very good used condition. The facing (tip, table, and rails) is smooth, and original. There are no tooth indentations on the beak. It does not appear to have ever been dropped or damaged. It has been cleaned/sanitized. Please feel free to message me with any questions. Thanks again for looking! 09/09/24-3-F
