Description: Vintage 1930-1949 May-Bell Style 6 guitar. Made by Slingerland, a highly regarded, pre-war guitar maker. Repair label inside reads:-LULU (perhaps named after the original owner, whose name appears on a removable sticker back of headstock)-Violin Craft Guitar-Style No. 6-Neck reset, bolt-on conversion-Refret-Original finish, tuners, bridgeThe original pickguard is included; a replacement was installed using the same 2 screw hole locations, so original can be reinstalled with NO damage to the finish. Good string action, straight neck. Stable, repaired crack on top lower bout area. Dove tail neck-to-body joint has been retained, so the bolt-on neck be reinstalled as original with glue if desired at a later date. There is honest wear including some scratching and lacquer wear on guitar edges, etc. Structurally very sound; a great choice for blues playing in my opinion. Plenty of mojo. Body shape may have been patterned after Gibson Jumbo series of the mid '30's, which this guitar closely resembles. Notice the open book headstock design.Some specifications:-String action +/- 3/32" from top of fret to bottom of string at 12th fret.-1 3/4" nut width-25" scale length-15 1/4" lower bout with 9 3/4" upper bout width; 4" side depth at lower bout.-This guitar is ladder braced. There is no case included. Note added based on customer inquiry: The bridge is firmly attached, and has not lifted in the years I have owned it. The bridge ends on either side of the saddle appear only slightly lifted, I believe because the top is ever so slightly arched (as it should be) while the bridge is flat--perhaps it was removed and reinstalled some time ago?No international or PO box shipping.
