You are looking at one of Electro Voices most elegant and unique microphones ever manufactured and has what I would describe as War of The World vibes. The 623 dynamic microphones were made during the 1950's and 60's but this particular mic is a 1st generation model and comes with the newer model desk stand shown in which to display. Pic # 2 shows this very model on an old E.V data sheet I have with the mics basic characteristics. It should be noted right away that this is a non-working example and should be used for display, repair or prop purposes only. The mic is 100% complete but the dynamic element inside the housing no longer works. The 623 model mic was an entry level dynamic mic that was an affordable option. It was used for general purpose broadcasting and dispatch. It could even stand in for vocals if needed though there were far better suited mics at that time. It was a rugged mic set at high impedance but again...this one is a non-working example. This is actually a very nice example of a 70 + year old 623. I try to provide the clearest pictures possible so you know exactly what you're getting. There are zero dents, pitting or engravings. Most of the wear is located on the front grill of the mic wear some of the chrome plating has worn down exposing the brass beneath. The on / off switch and joint mechanism work just as they should. The front grill is free of any dents or odors. The black screen looks great too. I would rate this mic a conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 physically speaking. MICROPHONE STAND IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is actually a newer Chinese model with a heavy cast iron base providing a stable platform for the E.V 636 mic. The stand has original paint that's free of any scratches or rust. The 4 inch chrome riser is slightly adjustable and in very good shape as well as the 6 newer felt pads on the bottom. The total height with the mic raised plus the stand is 14 inches. The mic can be lowered of course. This is going to make a very cool piece to display just about anywhere in the home, office or studio. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid.
