Vintage 1950s Ucagco Bell Girl in Pink & Gold Dress with Spaghetti Trim

Description: Vintage 1950s UCAGCO Bell ~ Girl in Pink and Gold Dress This feminine little bell, by the United China and Glass Company (UCAGCO) stands 3.25" high, is 2.5" wide and deep, and weighs a mere 2.5 oz. Shown with a 12 oz soda can for relative size. Made of glazed porcelain with thin wire holding the clapper. The bell works. My mom bought this new in the 1950s and passed it on to me in the late 1960s. In non-smoking households always. The girl's hair, which was a light brown to begin with, has faded to the point that her curls are almost the same shade of pale pink as her gown. The dress features mock lace--otherwise known as spaghetti trim--and is highlighted with specks and lines of gold leaf. I thought she was clutching a matching hat, but perhaps that is a purse? In her hair is a mock rosebud and leaf, so with that adornment I doubt a real girl would want to crush the rose by wearing a hat. I will let you decide what kind of accessory she is holding. Her hand-painted features include dainty eyebrows, long eyelashes, black eyes, and rosy cheeks. Only her lips are paint-worn, but that could be remedied with a fine-tipped brush, some red paint, and a steady hand. Note: her left index finger is still there, and still pointing upward some 70 years later, an amazing feat for such a fragile piece. The glaze on her dress and accessory remains, but is hit and miss on the back of her head, arms, and face. One cheek is shinier than the other, for example. Her only flaw is one that's been there since the beginning--a stray piece of white spaghetti that attached to the bottom of her gown and got glazed over. It kind of looks like a grain of kosher salt (see last photo). She was a bit dusty from being on display, so I gave her a bath before taking the photos. Using a very soft brush, I was able to quickly return the spaghetti trim to its original white color. SEE ALL PHOTOS. I am a hobby seller, not a dealer.
