Vintage 1987 Giant Chinese Panda Bear Commemorative 1 troy oz Silver Round struck by the American Medallion Corporation (AMC) Details: Obverse: The obverse depicts a Chinese Panda Bear walking through a bamboo forest. Surrounding the image is Chinese inscription specifying the weight and fineness of the round. Reverse: The reverse is a map of the country of China. The letters "CHINA" are written across the top with the date "1987" below. The lower inscription denotes the weight and fineness of "ONE OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER". The mintmark "AMC" is located to the upper right. The edge is fully reeded. This silver round was struck by the American Medallion Corporation (AMC) for several years both with and without dates. AMC was well known for their beautiful art and thematic rounds they struck. AMC was based in Houston, TX and ceased operations in the late 1980’s. Note: The mirror proof surfaces are silver, (not black). They only appear to be black. Except for the legs and inner ear of the Panda bear, the rest of the devices on both obverse and reverse are frosted. Pretty solid silver round with beautiful artistry. There is a bit of toning around the rim on the reverse. This round will be inserted into a mylar 2.5 x 2.5 non PVC flip when shipped.
