I am listing my father’s American Flyer Train Set under a series of auctions. The various auctions will feature locomotives, cars, cattle stock yards, Manoil car transport, trestles and many accessories from the 40’s and 50’s. My father grew up on a farm in Iowa during the 1940’s. Every year after Thanksgiving the family would travel to the big town of Omaha to sell the cattle at the Omaha Stock Yards and then the much anticipated trip to the Brandeis Department Store. In a scene right out of “Christmas Story,” my dad first saw the American Flyer electric train set in a large holiday window display. He begged his folks for an American Flyer Train for Christmas. The catch, living in a rural area, they did not yet have electricity! Thanks to the Rural Electrification project which finally brought electricity to the farm, my Dad ultimately received his train set. He treasured it until his death at 80 years old. I hope to find an enthusiast who will love this train half as much as my father did. I will happily combine shipping costs on multiple purchases.
