I have not attempted to wash or treat it so perhaps with the proper cleaning that would come out.NOTE: We normally do not know the history of our items however this particular piece I purchased at a sale in Lancaster County PA where the elderly lady was moving into a nursing home and downsizing her house. She came up to me after the sale to tell me she had made this piece herself back in 1960, she was an Amish woman and her first name was Rebecca. Just thought I would share that.Measures 40" x 14 1/2". Weighs 1 pound 8 ounces (prior to packaging)Has no bad smells.
