Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore!This listing is for a lovely mid-Century pitcher made by Edinburgh Crystal in the popular THISTLE pattern. The design is part of the Thistle Cut Collection produced from approximately 1955-1980 of high quality lead crystal in Scotland. The pitcher has a thistle shape with an all-over diamond cut pattern on round lower body and acid engraved thistle and leaves on the upper body. The handle has cut sides and a flat cut thumb-hold. The base is decorated with a large multi-point star. No marks found.Measures 7 12" high, 7 1/8" high with a 3 1/4" diameter base. Weighs 2.7 pounds. This nice pitcher is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of wear on base. There are a couple of tiny no-harm imperfections in the glass from production.History: Crystal has been produced in Edinburgh Scotland since the 1860's. The Edinburgh & Leith Glassworks became known as Edinburgh Crystal in 1955. The company was absorbed into the Waterford Wedgwood Group in 2006 becoming a brand name only with the brand name discontinued in 2009.
