Vintage Embossed Tin Cline's Drug Store Sign

Description: c. Early 1900s. This embossed tin sign advertises for Nyal's Family Remedies and measures 19.25" x 9.25". Regarding the history of the sign: The Nyal Company was a pharmaceutical company out of Detroit, Michigan around the turn of the century that became extremely well received. Their products came from The New York and London Drug Company out of New York. They found themselves shipping all all around the United States as far as San Francisco. In 1913, Nyal Company was taken over by Fredrick Stearns & Company (founded in 1855) who already purchased the New York and London Drug Company in 1904. The move was followed by expanding Nyal brand to include a cookbook (1916) and shipping overseas where the brand still exists (Australia). In America, any local pharmacist that carried the Nyal company could be supplied a sign as the one seen here. In this case, Cline's Drug Store, the interesting part of the story. Cline's had been a Southern Illinois institution since right after the Civil War.
