Description: Vintage FERRARI Coffee Table Book Some wear to the dust jacket. The inside pages are very nice, see photos! Reader Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars Not comprehensive but still Fantastic To start it must be noted that the author, Antoine Prunet, did not set out to write a complete book of production Ferrari road cars, or even to highlight the most famous cars of the marque. In the introduction he explains his selection of cars as being those he believes "have been most influential in creating the legend" of Ferrari - both as road cars and pure competition racers. As a result, many of the 33 cars featured in this 203-page, 9 3/4" x 12 1/2" book are experimental one-offs that are unfamilair but may have led to more familiar cars; a good example of this was the 365P Guida Centrale, a three-seat GT prototype that presaged the 246GT Dino. One the other hand, the 250GTO '64 was the successor to the more famous 250LM and is cosmetically identical to it. The cars covered (each gets its own chapter) are: 375F1; 375 Mille Miglia; 375 Plus Cabriolet; 121; 410 Sport; 410 Berlinetta Speciale; 860 Monza; 290 Mille Miglia; 250GT Pinin Farina Spyder; 250GT Cabriolet Series 1; 4.9 Superfast; 500TRC; 335 Sport; TR 58; 250 Testa Rossa; Testa Rossa 1959; 250GT Spyder California; 400 Superamerica; 400 Superamerica Series II; 250GT Bertone; 250GT Competitione '61; 250GT Bertone (2nd car); 250GTO; 250GTO '64; 275/330P; Dino 206S; 275GTB; 275GTB/4; 275 NART Spyder; 365P Guida Centrale; 512S Berlinetta Speciale; PF Modulo. Each car is extensively - and beautifully - photographed in color from numerous angles; the vast majority of photos were taken specially for this book, with only a small number of archival shots used to show the cars in production or in action on the race track. This book represents a significant resource as it is probably the only place you will find such high-quality images of many extremely rare Ferrari cars. The text is well-researched and provides extensive information of the technical background of the cars, such as: what Ferrari was trying to achieve with this model, why it was more successful than that model, why this one eventually went into mass production (or not) and so on. Put simply, this is an awesome coffee-table book that every serious Ferrari enthusiast should have. ー Contents: Preface Ferrari owners and Ferraris 375F1 Colombo versus Lampredi: equality 375 Mille Miglia From Formula 1 to the road 375 Plus Cabriolet From racing to royalty 121 A superb failure 410 Sport Weapon for a battle that never took place 410 Berlinetta Speciale Lone knight 860 Monza The long race 290 Mille Miglia Fangio's bathtub 250GT Pinin Farina Spyder Cafe racer 250GT Cabriolet Series I The wind in your hair 4.9 Superfast Chateau Ferrari 1957 500TRC A fitting end for the four-cylinder engine 335 Sport Power, beauty, success TR 58 TR for triumphant and red 250 Testa Rossa Races and colors Testa Rossa 1959 One, two, three for a failed attempt 250GT Spyder California A princess' dream 400 Superamerica Pininfarina: new name, new look 400 Superamerica Series II Aerodynamic and trendy 250GT Bertone Ten vears after 250GT Competition 61 British, blue and brave 250GT Bertone Giorgetto and Cleopatra 250GTO An "O" of surprise or admiration? 250GTO 64 You onlv live twice 275/330P Modest perfection Dino 206S A mile-eating beauty 275GTB The ideal berlinetta 275GTB 4 The engine is still in front 275 NART Spyder Open to the air 365P Guida Centrale Three-seater 512S Berlinetta Speciale Space ship 512M Holiday work PF Modulo “An automobile is first and foremost a dream”
