Description: The Geneva Cutlery Company, later known as GENCO, produced some of the very best American made razors. Many seasoned collectors and long-time wet-shavers keep a stash of these unassuming but excellent razors. I am a BIG fan of this maker! I have never had a bad shave with a Geneva or GENCO Blade, and one of my most-used, steadfast shavers is a GENCO. Somehow, they are still a well-kept secret. The steel is very hard and takes a long-lasting, keen edge. Sitting atop the northern tip of Seneca Lake, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, Geneva was situated well to be able to receive not only imported goods traveling westward in the early 1900s, but also a wealth of particularly excellent iron ores coming out of the mines on the western shores of Lake Champlain which were quite favorably compared to the world renowned ores of Sweden. I believe these ores are part of why The Geneva Cutlery Co became at one time the most successful cutlery producers in the USA. They released a great variety of blades throughout the early 20th century: Henry's X, Henry's XX, Henry's Triumph, HEAVY, Old Dutch, Vanadium, Easy Aces, Head Barber, Master Barber and many more subtle variations of materials, forging process and grind. Here I bring out a stash of my restored Geneva GENCO razors to share with my customers and will be listing them sporadically over the coming days and weeks. Stay Tuned! This razor measures just under 6/8ths of an inch wide and is in useable, restored condition. Sporting a full-hollow grind, this was produced as one of GENCO's top-of-the-line razors. I polished the blade and also cleaned and polished the original Bakelite scales. The imprint on the tang says "GENCO Henry's Triumph Geneva, NY USA" (which is a highly sought after model) and indicates it was made before the company was bought by the Case Brothers and moved to Pennsylvania. There are jimps on the topside of the tang to improve grip while in use. Due to the extensive pitting on this one (NOT ON THE EDGE!) I have decided to list it at a low price. After honing this one, I shave-tested it and received a fine shave from it. It has been re-stropped and sanitized with Clippercide and will arrive to the buyer shave-ready. It was honed with one layer of electrical tape to protect the spine and maintain optimal bevel angle.
