The tradition of pewter craftsmanship in these areas dates back to the 14th century. German pewterers are renowned for their meticulous attention to detail and the high purity of their tin alloys. Their pewter consists of 92% to 97% tin, with a small proportion of copper and antimony added for strength – the highest international standard for pewter. Zinn pewter items are also distinguished by their elegant designs and fine craftsmanship and often feature intricate engravings and elaborate scenes in repousse (raised ) work. This beautiful set embodies all of these traditions. Each piece bears the SKS Zinn 95% Made in Germany hallmark on the bottom, and features 3 different detailed country life scenes on the sides in repousse work. The decanter measures 7 ¼ ” H with a 4 ½ ” base diameter; each shot glasses measures 2 ½ ” H with approximately ¼ cup (2 oz) capacity. The set is being sold as found; it has not been cleaned or polished. Items are preowned and do show some signs of wear: One shot glass has a small dent on the bottom – but most surface wear would most likely polish out should you so choose.
