Description: OMG, the provenance of this ornament is as amazing, or more so, than the exquisite artistry of the maker. Hand blown and hand painted tomato ornament given as gifts to customers of the Stanislaus company in California; the biggest tomato cannery in the US at the time. Read the obituary for Dino Cortopossi, the son of Italian immigrants, and you will appreciate this item even more. He was truly an amazing and gifted individual who rose from near poverty to highly regarded and very successful businessman. This box is the original shipping box to one of his customers, a restaurant in NY. Amazing is that it still has the card that came with it that is pristine and features the children of the owners. Looks brand new. I called the ornament new (other) as it is still boxed and perfect. It is 3” tall and wide and has the perfect ripe tomato color. The box contains foam and velvet packing. Age has made the velvet shed, but still intact. I urge you to read the Legacy obituary on Dino Cortopassi and be as amazed as I am to have come across this jewel! OC
