Description: This is a lovely porcelain or china teacup and saucer set, made in Japan and imported by UCAGCO, United China and Glass Company. This company had offices in New York and New Orleans and imported porcelain products from Japan after the end of World War II and into the 1950’s. This is a really lovely set, in the Imari design, with 2 red panels and a green panel on the cup and saucer, with flowers and bamboo and greenery with gold highlights in between. The top of the cup and the saucer are slightly scalloped and trimmed in gold and gold on the handle too. The cup also has slightly flattened panels tapering down to the foot. The set is in excellent vintage shape, with no chips, cracks, or crazing that I can see, upon close examination with a strong light. There is little wear to the gold, except for the underside of the handle (see picture 15). There is a manufacturing flaw on the inside of the cup, it looks like a little round blob of porcelain got baked in when they made it. That can be seen in picture #20 & #21. I see no utensil marks on the glaze of the saucer when held at an angle to the light. There is some rub wear to the gold, especially on the handle. The cup is 3 & 1/2 inches in diameter, stands 2 & 7/8 inches tall, and holds 3/4 cup. The saucer is 5 & 1/2 inches in diameter.
