They were built with the finest components, the best capacitors, resistors, transistors and IC's in the world. Heathkit engineers drew on the technology that put man on the moon. The AJ 1515 in my opinion represents a prime example of one of these superb components. Sensitivity, tuning accuracy, audio performance was made to compete with the finest McIntosh and Marantz units of the day. Digital synthesized tuners were in their infancy, and those of the day weren't known for their audio performance. So this Heathkit is actually a pure analog tuner of the highest quality that incorporates a digital frequency readout circuit. It's a beauty, and built like a battleship. Working and sounding great. *Note: Alignment is spot on, but like many vintage units a slight "warm up" & circuit stabilization may be needed for tuning accuracy to be perfect.
