Description: This is a vintage 1965 Heywood-Wakefield Publick House dining table and eight chairs, 2 arm chairs and 6 side chairs. On another auction, the Publick House Buffet seen in the back of one or two pictures is also for sale. If interested in the dining set and the Buffet/China Top, we can work something out. This entire set was purchased new in St Petersburg, Florida in 1965 and has been in the same residence ever since. This set is truly as original as possible for a 59-year-old dining set. There are a few fade marks, but the overall condition is like new. Look at the condition of the bottom of the chairs; they're all like that. Almost no scuffs, scratches, etc. You'd have no trouble dusting it off and putting it right into your dining room. The furniture was built with typical Heywood-Wakefield excellent craftsmanship, and in fact, Heywood-Wakefield introduced the Publick House line in the early '60s to give a sense of what might have been available from high-end hand-craftsmen in America's Colonial period. Pieces in this series and sort of scarce because not as much of it was produced as compared to Heywood-Wakefield Mid--Century Moderne; it takes a special buyer to appreciate Publick House and fit it into a design scheme.
