Description: This is a beautiful vintage Japanese Satsuma moriage style pheasant earthenware vase. It has a pheasant design on both sides and faux handles in gold on the other sides. There are deep reds, blue, black and yellow colors accented with gold. The vase stands 12" and is 4.75" at the opening and 4.5" at the base and weighs just under 4 pounds. It is not marked where it was made and no artist marks. Without the marks it is hard to date it and I would assume it was not exported to the US. There are no chips or nicks but there is staining around the inside rim of the vase and some inside. The bottom of the vase also has crazing which happens to older pottery. Thanks for looking at this vase and be sure to check out my shop, not2shabbyshop, for more fabulous finds!
